Myanmar-Thailand Earthquake Death Toll Surpasses 150

A powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar on Friday, causing widespread destruction and loss of life across the region. The tremor, which hit near Mandalay at 12:50 PM (06:20 GMT), was followed by a 6.4-magnitude aftershock, further worsening the damage.

Myanmar’s state-run MRTV reported at least 144 deaths and 732 injuries in the country. In Thailand, local authorities confirmed nine fatalities in Bangkok, where a skyscraper collapsed, leaving dozens trapped under the rubble.
Rescue teams are working around the clock to locate survivors, while hospitals in Myanmar’s capital, Naypyidaw, are overwhelmed with injured victims. Officials warn that the death toll is expected to rise as search operations continue.
